shrimp
catfish
eel
basa
dace
After Canada, China is the second largest exporter of fish to the United States and shrimp is the most popularly imported fish to the US. Still, the Washinton Post reports that “There is no imminent threat to the public” and a variety of other safe domestic fish options abound.
KidSafe recommends making sure any shrimp you feed your family is either Northern US or Canadian farmed. KidSafe has always advised avoiding eel, as it has high levels of mercury, PCBs, and pesticides.
